A guest post by social media expert Peter Trapasso recently featured on PinnableBusiness.com shares tips for marketing a Kickstarter campaign on Pinterest.
Salt Lake City, UT (PRWEB) June 26, 2014
PinnableBusiness.com, a website for Pinterest marketers, announces a new guest post that shows marketers how to better promote their Kickstarter or other crowdfunding project on Pinterest. The post, written by social media expert Peter Trapasso, uses examples that he has used for his own clients.
A key strategy I use is to utilize Pinterest as a content marketing channel for crowdfunding campaigns, said Trapasso. Crowdfunding is serious business. The industry nets over a billion dollars a year already, and Kickstarter is the major player in the space. After just five years, Kickstarter has almost doubled funds raised and has done so every year since 2011.
Its important not to rely on the Kickstarter community to get funding, Trapasso said. According to a post on Copyblogger, only 10-25% of funding comes from the Kickstarter community itself. That means marketers must leverage social networks such as Pinterest to get more traction. You must build supporters and promoters if you want to see your Kickstarter campaign get funded. Its not enough to rely on Kickstarter.
Pinterest is an effective way to cross-promote a crowdfunding campaign across social networks such as Twitter, Google+ and Facebook. One way Trapasso recommends to use Pinterest is to create boards centered on Kickstarter and other crowdfunding campaigns, and pinning directly to those boards. When pinned correctly from Kickstarter, Pinterest automatically includes details on the pin such as amount funded, pledged, and days remaining in the campaign.
When asked what the biggest missed opportunity for Pinterest marketers was, Trapasso noted people scrimping on their pin descriptions. You need a description that informs and motivates people to participate, he said.
