Car Chase Crosses 2 Counties, Prompts School Lockdown

DEKALB COUNTY, AL (WZDX) - An early morning car chase and manhunt has come to an end in DeKalb County.

According to Jackson County Sheriff Charles Phillips the situation began in Dekalb County when a Sheriff's Deputy responded to a domestic call just after 8:00am. While at the residence, a man pulled a gun on the deputy and then fled the scene in a blue vehicle.

Jackson County Deputies joined in the chase when the suspect crossed into their jurisdiction. The man eventually ditched his car and ran into the woods near Country Road 38 in the Macedonia area.

Macedonia School was placed on lockdown as a precaution. Sheriff Phillips says search dogs were brought out to the scene and the man was apprehended just after 11:00 a.m.
