JACKSON COUNTY, AL (WZDX) - A popular Easter weekend event in Jackson County won't be happening this year and you could be arrested if you show up.
The Landowners' Association in Jackson and Madison Counties canceled the Bingham Mountain Easter Rock Crawl. In previous years, trash has been left behind and the land has been tore up.
The association has asked the sheriff's office to keep people off the property. They say it will be strictly enforced and people could be arrested.
"It's tradition. It's what we do, so why stop," asked resident Greg Crick.
"The property owner has approached the sheriffs office and said we are tired of these people trespassing and tearing up our land. They leave trash behind and tear up our roads, cabins get broken into," said Jackson County Sheriff Chuck Phillips.
2,000 people attended the rock crawl last year. For 15 years, it has been an annual event that draws big crowds consecutively.
