1. Authorities have identified a body found in the water at a marina in Muscle Shoals as that of missing 38-year-old Amy Fritts of Florence. An autopsy determined she drowned and no foul play is suspected.

2. A fire at a home on North Cypress Street in Florence took firefighters about 20 minutes to get under control. Three people were inside when it started.. but no injuries were reported.

3. Deputies have made an arrest in a stabbing investigation that left one person dead in New Market. Authorities arrested 40-year-old Daniel Cobb and charged him with murder.

4. Alabama has officially enacted new laws setting stricter requirements for welfare. Governor Robert Bentley signed four bills, one of which requires applicants to submit three job applications before receiving benefits.

5. Governor Robert Bentley also signed the education budget despite his clash with lawmakers over the lack of a teacher pay raise. The approved version puts more money into the employees' health insurance costs, but doesn't include a pay increase.

6. Authorities in California are investigating what caused a FedEx truck to cross a median and crash into a bus. 8 of the 40 high school students were killed, plus both drivers.

7. A Phoenix woman accused of throwing a shoe at Hillary Clinton during a Las Vegas speech is free after being given only a misdemeanor charge. Clinton wasn't hit and joked about it afterwards.

8. President Barack Obama chose White House Budget Director Sylvia Mathews Burwell to replace Health and Human Services Director Kathleen Sebelius who resigned yesterday. Sebelius came under fire for overseeing the botched rollout of the Affordable Care Act.

9. The next generation of space explorers are putting their engineering skills to the test this weekend. The Rover Challenge kicked off Friday morning at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center.
