MADISON COUNTY, AL (WZDX) - Iqbal Memon, the father of Discovery Middle School shooter Hammad Memon, pleaded not guilty to hindering prosecution Monday morning in a Madison County courtroom.
Iqbal Memon, 52, is accused of helping his son try to flee the country in 2012 while awaiting trial for the 2010 shooting that killed 14-year-old Todd Brown.
Jury selection began for his trial after the plea was entered.
Safia Memon, Hammad's mother, pleaded guilty to hindering prosecution and was sentenced to a year of probation.
Hammad Memon is currently serving a 30-year prison sentence.
