FORT PAYNE, AL (WZDX) - Fort Payne is working on a deal that could bring a brew pub to downtown.
During a recent city council meeting, developer Barry Morton pitched the idea to the city to open a brew pub he calls "Little River Brewing Company." Morton wants to locate the proposed business in the old Coal and Iron Building. Some downtown restaurants say it's good news for the city.
"I think it's fascinating and I think it would be a tourist attraction," said Ashley Hosch from Cafe 100 Restaurant.
"My personal feeling is that it would be a benefit for downtown over the long haul," said Mayor Larry Chesser.
City leaders will discuss the proposal after the new year.
