Rape Suspect is a Former Police Officer

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WZDX) - FOX54 has learned new details about a rape investigation at an off-campus apartment close to Alabama A&M.

The suspect, 29-year-old Terrance Shaw, is charged with rape and sodomy. Shaw is also a former Memphis police officer who resigned from the force in April after an investigation into a shooting which left a 15-year-old boy dead.

Shaw was arrested last weekend for allegedly raping his ex-girlfriend at an off-campus apartment. She reported she was assaulted while visiting him. Court records indicate three other men witnessed the act.

Shaw shot and killed a 15-year-old boy back in 2012. He claimed the boy was trying to rob him. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation looked into the shooting and decided not to prosecute.

Shaw resigned in the spring of 2013 from the department during an administrative review of his conduct. He is a graduate student at Alabama A&M.

He is currently out on a $20,000 bond and is due back in December 4th.
