HUNTSVILLE, AL (WZDX) - More jobs could be coming to the Rocket City as it plans to compete for big business.
Governor Robert Bentley, the Alabama Department of Commerce and Huntsville city leaders met with Boeing company representatives in Birmingham on Tuesday.
The group talked about a proposal to bring assembly of the new Boeing 777X jet to Huntsville.
"As of last week when the machinist union in Washington voted down their contract by 67 percent, at that point, I think the Boeing leadership started looking at options," said Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle.
Boeing plans to make a decision within the next few months. But, Boeing has already said that Huntsville will get some of the engineering work for the 777X, which the aerospace company hopes to deliver in 2020.
