MADISON COUNTY, AL (WZDX) - There's new information about a rape investigation in Madison County.
As FOX54 previously reported, Alabama A&M police arrested Terrance Shaw and charged him with first degree rape and sodomy.
Executive Director of Public Safety Monica Ray says the victim was an out-of-town guest and not a student. She reported she was assaulted while visiting Shaw at his apartment next to campus. She told police Shaw was her ex boyfriend.
Ray says there was never any threat to campus.
"We have taken and continue to take numerous steps to provide a safe environment for both our students and the thousands of visitors to our campus. We take all allegations of sexual assault seriously and regret any incident that negatively impacts our campus community," said Ray.
The criminal case will now be reviewed for charges by the Madison County District Attorney's Office.
