A Huntsville couple is filing a federal lawsuit after they say Huntsville police officers used excessive force against them.
According to the suit, Christopher and Shani Lafever allege two officers beat them and used pepper spray on them and their child.
The incident dates back to a 2011 arrest over a dispute at a parking lot on private property.
The lawsuit says the couple did not believe undercover officers when the two showed the couple their badges.
The couple thought the officers were trespassing.
The Lafevers claim they were kicked and punched by the officers.
They're seeking compensatory and punitive damages.
A request to the City Attorney for comment was not returned this afternoon.
