A group opposed to changing the name of J.O. Johnson High School will march through downtown Huntsville this weekend.

The J.O. Johnson Alumni Association has announced their plans to march from Huntsville City Hall to the City School Board on Saturday morning.

They have invited anyone who wants to see J.O. Johnson High School keep its namesake to march with them.

Chris Horn, J.O. Johnson Alumni Association, said, "We have a legacy at J.O. Johnson High School of great leadership and we want these kids to be able to share in that legacy. We [have] some of the greatest finest minds at NASA out at the US Army in Research Park".

Talks to change the name of the new school surfaced after plans to rebuild the high school on Pulaski Pike were announced by the district.
