The Decatur City Council has decided to delay the vote on a proposed budget that would make cuts to local non-profits.

The proposed $55 million dollar 2014 budget is a slight increase from the 2013 budget, but Mayor Don Kyle says its not enough to keep the city from making cuts. Some of those cuts are coming to local non-profits including the Hospice of the Valley, and The Arc of Morgan County.

Mayor Kyle says, "We have a revenue stream that won't support continuation at the levels that we have been putting appropriations out. We took a hard look, it was a difficult look at some of those projects and we tried to only those that the cities part was a insignificant part of their total budget."

The vote on the budget was tabled until the next meeting on October 21st.
