J'nay Bailey was honored for her courageous actions.
A little girl was honored on THursday night for her heroism when shots were fired near her school on Monday.
J'nay Bailey was recognized at tonight's Huntsville City School Board meeting. The 11-year-old was walking home from school with two friends in kindergarten and first grade when shots rang out. She immediately sprung into action, telling us, "All I did was grab the girl in front of me and grab the girl beside me and I put them together, grabbed my coat out of my book bag and put it over them, and put my body over them too, until I knew it was safe."
J'nay says she learned in school what to do, she knew she had to jump into action to help the little girls.
