Here in Huntsville, the community came together for a rally at Big Spring Park on Sunday to reflect on how far civil rights have come.
"Together We Can" was the empowering theme at the first Community Day hosted by ME Creative Agency.
The event commemorated the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington and the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing in Birmingham.
Attendees listened to the various speakers and the Oakwood Elementary School choir
Deborah Barros-Smith, Event Organizer, said, "Today is not about bringing up the negative. Today is about motivation and bringing the community together and that is desperately needed in our country, in our state, and right here."
Attendees compared how far they have come and how far they must go until the dream is fully realized
