LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Ala. (WZDX )- On Thursday morning, the Lauderdale County Drug Task Force, along with federal and state law enforcement officers, arrested 20 suspects during a drug round-up.
The suspects are charged with distribution of a controlled substance. Authorities said they are all accused of selling either meth, prescription pills, marijuana, cocaine or heroin. The 11-month investigation included a total of 40 arrest warrants.
"These guys are street-level to mid-level drug dealers" said Lauderdale County Drug Task Force Investigator Chuck Hearn. "And during the course of the operation, we made over 117 controlled drug buys from these individuals"
Investigators say the arrests were a continuation an ongoing investigation called Operation Groomsman that resulted in 39 drug arrests in August 2012.
A total of 12 vehicles were confiscated during the round-up as part of the investigation.
