One man died after his boat hit a down power line.
DECATUR, Ala. (WZDX) - A Limestone County man is dead after the bass boat he was in hit a down power line around 5:30 Tuesday.
The 65-year-old was killed on the Tennessee River near the Nucor steel plant.
He was boating with another man, competing in a bass tournament, when their boat hit the down line at 70 miles per hour.
The driver was not injured, but the passenger sustained trauma to the head and neck.
The main power line was down across the water and the boat went under it. They didn't see the power line and they just went under it, says Jonathan Poole who witnessed the accident. "There was no way to see it. There was no boats blocking the path."
Police blocked off the area until the lines were back up. According to Marine Police, TVA has been working on the lines in that location.
