HUNTSVILLE Ala. (WZDX) - A special group of dancers gave a bon voyage performance for their supporters Wednesday evening before they head to L.A. for a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Saturday, Project UP dancers will find themselves on stage with some of the best dancers in the world.
Project UP, founded at Merrimack Hall, is a dance program for individuals with special needs.
One of their routines has received some national attention, earning them an invite to perform at a dance gala in Los Angeles alongside the stars of "So You Think You Can Dance".
"This dance piece is the first time that we have tried to use dance to share our message and that message is that we are more alike than we are different, and we believe that everybody should have access to arts regardless of their challenges," Director, Debra Jenkins said.
That performance is a rendition of "Waiting on the World to Change" performed with five Project UP members and five local dance volunteers from Element Huntsville.
