MOULTON, Ala. (WZDX) - Lawrence County is so short on funds it's using money from the Solid Waste Fund to pay employees.
Recently, the County commission voted to approve applying for a line of credit of $400,000. However, they're still working with the bank to get it approved.
So, this week the county will move $65,000 from the Solid Waste account to the general fund in order to meet that payroll and give employees their pay check.
County Administrator Tricia Galbreath says, "Over the years they've had cutbacks that have fell back up onto the county and the county hasn't made no cutbacks so that's where it's mostly turned out to be from."
Lawrence County does run a fiscal year so its year will start over in October on a new budget.
