Farmers say heavy rain makes it hard to get to crops
MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WZDX)- After yesterday's torrential downpour of rain, some are questioning if it will ruin certain crops.
Farmers and Growers at the Madison County farmer's market say the crops that would hurt the most are tomatoes and melons in low areas.
Colleen Brooks, a grower said, "Some it might. But as it is right now, what's bothering the growers is they are having problems getting the produce out of the fields because of so much rain yesterday. So, there is a lot of mud they are contending with."
The farmers and growers both agree that it is too soon to see if the crops were damaged, but they should know in the next couple of days.
