COLBERT COUNTY, Ala. (WZDX) - Court documents filed Monday state the father of a man charged with murder called police after his son told him he killed his girlfriend.
Homajean Grisham III, 35, was arrested Friday and charged with killing Jessica Broadfoot, 32.
According to a felony complaint filed Monday, Grisham went to his family's home on Fossick Lane and told his father, Homajean Grisham Jr., that he had killed Broadfoot and had her body in his truck. The elder Grisham told his son to get off the property.
After he had left, Grisham called authorities, told them what had happened and gave them a description of his son's truck.
Grisham was arrested on 2nd Street in Muscle Shoals a short time later. Deputies found blood in the cab and the bed of the truck.
During questioning, authorities said Grisham initially denied harming Broadfoot but then admitted stabbing her while driving down Highway 72 in Colbert County. The complaint states Grisham then dumped her body on his family's property on Fossick Lane, and he later led them to the body.
Broadfoot's body was found in a wooded area with multiple stab wounds.
Court documents indicate Broadfoot and Grisham were divorced in 2006. According to family members, the two had recently started dating.
