DECATUR, Ala. (WZDX) A proposed plan to fix one of Decatur's most problematic intersections doesn't make everyone happy.
"If it takes a little bit more money up front to be safer in the long run, do it," says resident Sheree Brown.
Sheree Brown is just one of about 50 residents that voiced their concerns at a meeting Thursday night. The Alabama Department of Transportation is working to fix the Wilson Street and 6th Avenue intersection.
If implemented, the plan would push traffic onto Church Street. That's the middle of the Old Decatur area.
"This particular project, we feel, there's a good chance that it would have an impact and an adverse impact on reducing some of the size,
" says John Godwin with the Decatur Historical Preservation Committee.
No final plans have been made for this project.
