Memon Pleads Guilty, Sentenced to 30 Years in Prison
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WZDX) - Discovery Middle School shooter Hammad Memon was sentenced to 30 years in prison Tuesday afternoon, after pleading guilty to murder.
Memon, 17, asked for the forgiveness of Todd Brown's family before being sentenced by Madison County Judge Karen Hall.
Memon was 14 when he shot and killed Brown in the hallway at Discovery Middle School Feb. 5, 2010. He was charged as an adult.
He has been in and out of jail since the shooting. He was released on bond Oct. 18, 2010, but his bond was revoked in April 2012 when police said he and his mother attempted to flee the country for Pakistan.
