MADISON, Ala. (WZDX) - A fundraiser at Bob Jones High School on Sunday helped support a teen with Cystic Fibrosis.
Gerald McQueen is just 16 years old. He was diagnosed with CF on his first birthday.
On Memorial Day, McQueen and his family will head to St. Louis where Gerald will undergo a double lung transplant.
Despite his breathing troubles and spending weeks in the hospital, Gerald never let obstacles stand in the way. He even played football.
Sunday, hundreds attended the fundraiser in Madison. Gerald, in the midst of a hospital stay, was released for the party. He hung out with friends and embraced the company of new people, forgetting, even if just for a moment, the hospital stay.
The family encourages everyone to "do something for someone else every day."
