BOAZ, Ala. (WZDX) - A Boaz woman is facing marijuana charges after police said a letter intended for her address mistakenly went to the Boaz City Jail.

Lisa Sue Blankenship, 50, was charged with marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia after a letter with a baggie of marijuana showed up at the Boaz Police's Records Department and was routed to the city jail.

A corrections officer checking incoming mail opened the letter and found the marijuana. The letter was intended for an address a block away from the jail.

Officers went to the address on Walnut Street, spoke with Blankenship and said they found marijuana in a film canister on a table. After she gave permission to search the home, police said they found some more marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Police did not release the origin of the letter, but said they notified the U.S. Postal Service.

Police said Blankenship denied knowing anything about the letter.
