State Trooper Charged with Killing Couple Asks for Continuance
James Heath Moss
ATHENS, Ala. (WZDX) - Attorneys for an Alabama State Trooper charged with killing a couple while speeding have asked that his trial be continued because he has been called to active duty.
According to court documents filed today, James Heath Moss was set to appear in court tomorrow. He is charged with criminally negligent homicide. Moss's attorney said he was recalled to active duty in the U.S. Navy on April 12th.
The motion filed by Moss's attorney states the District Attorney did not object to a continuance.
Moss was responding to an accident in April 2011 when his vehicle collided with a vehicle turning off of Lucas Ferry Road. Jamie and Sarah Gossett were killed in the crash. Moss was reportedly going 120 miles per hour at the time.
