Escapee Being Questioned for Bomb Threat at Area Hospitals

CULLMAN, Ala. (WZDX) - An escapee from the Arab Police Department will be questioned in connection with bomb threats called in to several area hospitals Sunday night.

According to Cullman County Sheriff Tim Rainey, Jeremy Lang escaped from the Arab Police Department around the same time bomb threats were called in for Marshall Medical Center South, Marshall Medical Center North and Cullman Regional Hospital. At around 8:15 p.m. Sunday, a 911 caller stated bombs would go off 45 minutes from the time of the call.

No bombs were found at any of the hospitals. Lang was captured around 12:30 a.m. Monday in Joppa.

According to Rainey, Lang has an existing arson warrant.  He's accused of setting fire to his girlfriend's trailer earlier this year. According to Rainey, Lang called his former girlfriend and told her he was on his way to her house to kill her after he escaped from custody Sunday night.

Rainey said Lang hitchhiked from Arab and, at the time of his arrest, had a gas can and hose.

Lang will be questioned and the 911 tape will undergo a voice analysis.
