DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. - The National Weather Service (NWS) has determined a tornado touched down in the Kilpatrick community Monday afternoon, leveling homes and causing widespread damage.
The strength of the tornado has not yet been determined.
According to the DeKalb County Emergency Management Agency, more than 70 people in Kilpatrick were left homeless after Monday's tornado. 13 homes were destroyed. 16 homes sustained serious damage.
NWS teams are still surveying other areas in DeKalb and Marshall counties that were hit hard by severe weather.
