JMR Graphics, a nationwide bus wraps manufacturer, responds to a Hartford Business article, which details how Connecticut organizations are limiting the operation of digital billboards. JMR Graphics recommends remedying this with mobile billboards.
Central Islip, NY (PRWEB) March 04, 2013
On March 4, nationwide bus wraps manufacturer JMR Graphics comments on a Hartford Business article, which discusses the limits imposed on digital billboards in Connecticut.
According to Hartford Business, Scenic America, a national nonprofit agency, is attempting to limit the amount of digital billboard advertisements displayed along popular interstate highways. Hartford Business revealed that a 2007 Federal Highway Administration memo reported digital billboards could change ads every four seconds.
Activists like Bill Brinton from Scenic America said to Hartford Business these ads are in violation of the Highway Beautification Act of 1965.
The Highway Beautification Act prohibits lighting on billboards and bans intermittent ads reports Hartford Business.
“The end result is not that these things have to be dismantled, but they have to be changed so the messages are not intermittent," Brinton said to Hartford Business.
Representative TJ Pannell from JMR Graphics, a nationwide bus wraps manufacturer, said digital billboards can be distracting. “Digital billboards are continuously changing and they are a big distraction,” he said. “While they do get people to look at them, they can also be dangerous.”
Amidst the controversy surrounding digital billboards, Pannell said there is an opportunity to explore more types of outdoor advertising. He said advertising companies should invest more in vehicle wrapping ads. “Vinyl vehicle wraps can drastically increase the amount of people seeing each ad because they’re mobile,” he said. “People are constantly driving around. Investing money in a bus wrap or a truck wrap can help advertisers further promote their brand because more people are going to see that vehicle, whether they pass by it in a car or see it on the street while walking.”
