Athens Man Found Guilty of Taking Gun on High School Campus
Athens, AL - A man accused of taking a loaded shotgun to Athens High School has been convicted.
A jury found Thomas Smoak guilty of making a terrorist threat and possession of a firearm on school grounds with intent to do bodily harm for the May 25, 2010 incident.
Smoak was accused of taking the loaded shotgun to the school because he was upset that the principal suspended his son. Smoak's wife called the school to warn them, and police arrested Smoak nearby with the shotgun in his van.
