Madison County, AL - Prosecutors claim accused Discovery Middle School shooter Hammad Memon had a gang affiliation at the time he was accused of gunning down a classmate.
In court documents filed today, prosecutors indicated they would present evidence during his trial that Memon believed he was a member of the Crips gang.
Prosecutors also intend to prove Memon stole the gun used in the shooting and attempted to flee the country to avoid prosecution for the crime.
Memon is accused of shooting 14-year-old classmate Todd Brown between classes at the school in Madison in February 2010. He has been charged as an adult.
Memon's parents, Iqbal and Safia, have been charged with hindering prosecution. They are accused of trying to help Memon get out of the country.
