Ethan McCutcheon remembers his favorite moments with his friend and classmate, 7-year-old Zachary Stone.
"I liked to play with him at recess," McCutcheon said
Tonight he did something no first grader should ever have to do.
"I am saying goodbye to him with this candle," McCutcheon said.
Zachary and his mother Krista Stone were found dead inside their home on Chicamauga Trail Sunday evening, allegedly killed by Stephen Marc Stone, Krista's wife and Zachary's father. Police say Stone turned himself in. He is being held in the Madison County Jail without bond.
Many questions are still unanswered by police including the motive for the killings or how they died.
Tuesday, broken-hearted friends honored their memory with a sea of candlelight at Mountain Gap Elementary School, where Zachary attended first grade.
"What matters is that our community has lost a precious little boy before his time. His friends lost a classmate and his teachers lost a student," said parent Kristy Claus
Visitation for Krista and Zachary Stone is planned for Thursday February 28th at Sunset Memorial Park in Midland City. Their funerals will be at 10 a.m. Friday March 1st at Dothan First Assembly of God.
