A Decatur woman is facing several charges after a chase with police where she ran her vehicle into police cruisers.
Crystal Ann Hitt, 21, is charged with attempting to elude police, reckless driving, resisting arrest, driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to appear.
Police say around 2:30 a.m. an officer stopped Hitt's vehicle on 6th Avenue near Beltline Road and realized she had a warrant for her arrest for failure to appear. According to police, Hitt sped off and officers chased her.
During the chase, police say Hitt struck the SS Nesbitt Insurance building at 6th and 11th Street. Police also said on two occasions during the pursuit, officers attempted to approach Hitt's vehicle on foot and she drove into the officers' cars, almost hitting the officers themselves.
The chase ended on Central Parkway between 14th Street and Bluebird Lane when Hitt and a passenger, Shana Gayle Howard, 18, Trinity, ran from the car. They were caught shortly afterward. Officers say both women had crack pipes.
Hitt's bond was set at $5,000, and she also faces criminal mischief charges once police determine how much damage was done to their vehicles.
Howard was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest. Her bond was set at $1,000.
