Police called in a SWAT team as backup to help them deal with a man who barricaded himself in an apartment after hitting a police officer Wednesday.
Huntsville officers responded to a harassment call between two residents at the Light House on Max Luther Drive around 11:30 a.m. According to police on the scene, one of the residents punched an officer in the face when they showed up and then barricaded himself in his apartment.
More police officers arrived and called in SWAT, but officers talked the man into coming out peacefully just before 1 p.m.
The man was taken to the hospital for a mental evaluation. His name has not been released, and police.
No one else was injured, and the officer who was hit did not require medical attention.
