Two Madison City schools canceled classes Friday because of a water main break.
Friday afternoon Madison Utilities crews were cleaning up and making repairs trying to get things back to normal.
A water main broke around 7 Thursday night on Macadoo and Eastview Drives in Madison. The malfunction flooded streets, and left homeowners without water.
Madison Utilities General Manager Ricky Pounders says the break has been fixed, but it took many hours to complete the work. "We need to re-fill the lines slowly and do a lot of flushing with hydrants to get rid of all the sediment that's been stirred up. And then we'll take some precautionary samples just to make sure everything is cleared, And hopefully by this time tomorrow we will be all clear back to business as usual" Pounders said.
Because of the problem, Madison Utilities issued a boil water advisory for all affected residents living in the area.
