Decatur police charged a man Tuesday with assault for attacking another man with a machete.
Charles Eddie Powers, 48, was already charged with public intoxication, possession of marijuana, providing a false name to law enforcement and three failure to appear warrants. He was arrested Monday when police responded to a fight in the 200 block of Adams Drive.
Police determined Powers assaulted a man with a machete. The victim was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not considered serious.
Police say Powers will be transferred to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $2,500 bond after he is able to bond out on his previous charges.
