Madison County Sheriff's Office investigators have confirmed that a deadly shooting on Ortega Circle early Tuesday morning is linked to three crime scenes in Tennessee and Alabama that left a total of five people dead, including a pregnant woman.
Authorities say the killings likely are drug-related.
Just after 1 a.m. Tuesday, Huntsville police responded to a shooting call and found Jeffrey Pope dead from a gunshot wound to the chest. Police said three men in dark clothing were seen running from that scene, but no arrests were made.
Authorities say Pope's death is tied to the death of Warren Vincent Crutcher, who was found dead around 8 a.m. Tuesday off of B.H. Reeves Road in Hazel Green. Authorities say Crutcher was shot execution-style multiple times.
A TBI spokeswoman says Crutcher had relationships with all three women who were found dead Monday in Tennessee. Chabreya Campbell, Amber McCaulley and 1-year-old Rico Ragland were all found dead Monday inside a Lincoln County, Tenn., home just north of the state line. Jessica Brown was found dead at a home on Fox Wood Drive a few miles away. Crutcher was the father of both Jessica Brown's child and one of Chabreya Campbell's children.
A 3-year-old child at Campbell's home and a 2-month-old child at Brown's home were found unharmed.
