Romney, Obama Prepare for First Debate

Posted: Updated:

DENVER (AP) - They've spent a lot of time talking about each other -- and now, President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney will be talking to each other, and to tens of millions of viewers of tonight's first debate between them.

Obama will get the first question at the start of a debate in Denver focusing on the economy and other domestic issues. He and Romney are spending part of the day relaxing at their hotels -- and both are visiting the debate site in advance of the event.

The Obama campaign is planning more than 4,000 debate-watching events around the country. The Romney camp is planning hundreds of debate parties at restaurants, VFW halls and other sites, mostly in battleground states.

The campaigns of Romney and Obama have each set up websites where they'll be responding in real time to what their opponent says in tonight's debate in Denver.
