Fyffe Police Chief Resigns, Acting Chief Appointed
There is a new acting police chief in the town of Fyffe following the police chief's resignation Monday.
Fyffe Mayor Katy Woodall said Neil Anderson was appointed as acting chief Monday, after the resignation of Chief Jake Fowler.
Woodall said Anderson has been working as a police officer in New Hope for the last two years but was a member of the Fyffe department from 2006-2010. Anderson also served as assistant chief during his time in Fyffe.
Fowler's resignation and that of one other officer left the town without any full-time officers until Anderson's appointment. Woodall said the town is getting assistance from the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office and has five part-time officers from other departments.
Woodall said the town will name a new chief Nov. 5. In the meantime, she said they will hire two full-time officers in the next couple of days, and more than 30 people have applied for the jobs.
