Boaz Man Facing Multiple Charges After Incident at Walmart
A Boaz man is in jail without bond after police say he assaulted several people during a shoplifting incident -- one of them a police officer.
Boaz police Chief Terry Davis said Rickey Ray Amos, 30, struck an assistant manager, a loss prevention officer and a 17-year-old shopper at Walmart Sunday. Davis said Boaz officers arriving on the scene for a shoplifting call saw Amos hit the victims and take off running.
When officers began chasing Amos, Davis said he pushed one of the officers. One patrolman sustained injuries to his knee, left leg and both elbows. He was treated and released from Marshall Medical Center South.
The 17-year-old girl was also treated and released from Marshall Medical Center South. The two Walmart employees were treated at the scene.
Amos is charged with robbery, assault, resisting arrest, attempting to elude and assaulting a police officer.
