Space and Rocket Center Hosts Rocketfest 2012

Visitors to the Space and Rocket Center were treated to a little extra entertainment Monday. Musicians, comedians, and scientists all showed up to perform and speak at Rocketfest 2012.

Musician Marian Call traveled all the way from Anchorage Alaska to perform free of charge. All performers donated their time in an effort to raise money for the Space Camp Foundation fund.

Astronomer and blogger Phil Plait drove from Atlanta to help out.

"We have come in here to donate our time so that people can donate money, and that money will go towards inspiring more kids to get into space exploration and science," said Plait. "I think that's just the best thing, the best use of my time certainly that I can think of," he continued.

The fund helps provide scholarships to children interested in attending Space Camp.
