The ex-husband of a missing Huntsville native was sentenced to life in prison on Tuesday.
45 year old Daniel Proctor was found guilty by a jury after serving as his own attorney.
Proctor was convicted of stealing a 1997 Ford Explorer, and a .380 handgun in Madison County last year.
He is also the main suspect in the disappearance of 41 year old Amy Patterson, a Florida teacher and Grissom High School graduate, who's been missing for over a year.
Proctor has a lengthy criminal history, including a 1988 case of burglary in Madison County, Failure to Appear charges in Houston County in 1989 and Burglary and Assault cases in Madison County in 1994. In the assault case, the victim was his then estranged wife - Amy Proctor.
Patterson has been missing since July 2011. Both Proctor and Patterson have ties to the Tennessee Valley and lived in Huntsville when they were married in the early-1990s.
Proctor has not yet been charged in connection with her case.
