The Alabama Bureau of Investigation is now handling the case of a deadly late night shooting involving a Decatur police officer.
Decatur police said 36 year-old Bobby Lowe died in the shooting.
It happened around 10:30pm Monday at Summer Place Apartments, located on Courtney Drive just off Central Parkway.
Police said they were called to the complex twice Monday night about Lowe. According to the second call, he was reportedly armed with a gun.
Investigators said Lowe charged at a Decatur police officer and tried to take his rifle away when the officer shot Lowe with his handgun in the ensuing scuffle.
