Join Me in the Fight Against Cancer

FOX54 is a proud supporter of the American Cancer Society! I am happy to be a part of the FOX54 team and am looking forward to participating in the American Cancer Society's Celebrity Waiter Night at Chili's on University Dr. in Huntsville Thursday, August 16th. The tips I receive from 5-9 p.m. that night will go to the American Cancer Society.

It is likely everyone in the Valley has been touched by cancer, either through your own personal battle or through someone you love. Just in the past week, two amazing women that I knew lost battles with cancer.

The picture you see to the left is my girlfriend Nicole and me along with her beautiful Aunt Lynda. Lynda Mills had a personality that would light up the room. When I met her for the first time just a few weeks ago in Parkersburg, WV she was constantly laughing and enjoying life. Other than the oxygen tank she carried around to help her breathe, you never would have known she was fighting cancer. Lynda died on August 7th after a very brave fight with cancer. She truly loved life and was an amazing example to the people around her.

Rebecca Click (pictured on the left) was always an encouragement to everyone she met. I met Rebecca through her son, Andrew who I went to school with at Auburn University. Rebecca was diagnosed with brain cancer in March of this year and died on Thursday August 9th. When I attended her visitation on Saturday, the line was out the door because of all the people that showed up to pay their respects. In fact they were bringing people in to sit down as they waited because the line was so long. It was an amazing sight. But I must admit, I was not surprised. In her years here on this earth Rebecca Click touched so many lives with her loving and caring soul.

I am sure you have a story as well. Cancer is an awful disease that takes away our loved ones way too early. Join in the fight! Our mothers and fathers, sons, daughters, aunts, uncles, and friends need your help.

I am participating in the American Cancer Society's Celebrity Waiter's Night because I want to make a meaningful difference in the fight against cancer.

Every day, the American Cancer Society is helping us stay well by preventing cancer or finding it at its earliest, most treatable stages. They assist families in finding the best resources to help their friend or loved one deal with a diagnosis and their journey to get well. The American Cancer Society is also rallying communities (like ours!) through events like the Celebrity Waiter Night, to fight back and find cures for this disease.

Please come out to Chili's on University Dr. in Huntsville at 4925 University Dr NW # B or make a donation to help the American Cancer Society create a world with less cancer and more birthdays. Together, we can help make sure that cancer never steals another year of anyone's life!

If you would like to make a donation online, go to my donation page at http://bit.ly/Sfa0i1.
