A DeKalb County Corrections Officer is on administrative leave following an early morning accident in Fyffe.
It happened around 1:00 a.m. on County Road 72. According to Alabama State Troopers, Lucas Yancey was behind the wheel of a vehicle that ran off the road and struck a home. He was rushed to DeKalb Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released. He was later charged with DUI.
The case remains under investigation by Troopers. Yancey will be on leave until his court date, which has been set for August 22nd.
"It's an unfortunate incident," Sheriff Jimmy Harris said in a prepared release. "Lucas is an outstanding corrections officer and is a great asset to the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office."
