Three Children Removed from Home where Meth was Made

Posted: Updated:

A meth lab bust in Morgan County Thursday afternoon landed a couple behind bars and their children in the hospital.

Kelly Howard, 44, and Heather Howard, 34, were arrested at their home on Red Bud Lane in Priceville.

Investigators say the couple was manufacturing meth, using a red phosphorous lab.

Because the fumes in their home were so strong, they had to be decontaminated before being hauled off to jail.

Their three children, ages 12, 9 and 4 were taken to Decatur General Hospital for treatment.

Morgan County Chief Deputy Michael Corley says, "These children are innocent in this, they had no choice, and for their parents to be here, living in these conditions with this filth and this going on is just unthinkable."

The couple is charged with manufacturing and child endangerment. Their children are in DHR custody.
