Decatur Officer Involved Shooting Under Investigation (Updated) - FOX 54 WZDX – Huntsville News, Weather and Sports

Decatur Police have identified the man who died in an officer involved shooting Monday afternoon.

Investigators say Steven Cameron shot himself with a shotgun. It happened on Woodall Road, just off of Highway 24.

According to Decatur Police Lieutenant John Crouch, an officer spotted a vehicle stuck in a ditch. A wrecker service was called to pull the car out. When the tow truck arrived, Cameron pulled out a shotgun.

Gunfire was exchanged between Cameron and the officer on the scene. Investigators say Cameron then shot himself.

The investigation is being conducted by the Decatur Police Department and the Alabama Bureau of Investigation.
