Huntsville Times Printing Press Ran for the Last Time

Posted: Updated:

At midnight on Sunday night, the local printing presses for the Huntsville Times ran for the last time. Employees, family, friends, and retirees gathered for the event.

Even though the pressroom in Huntsville is shutting down, you'll still get your paper. Now, though, it'll be printed in Birmingham.

The paper will stop printing in Huntsville as part of a move to become a more digitally-focused company.

Beginning in the fall, the newspaper will cut back printed copies to three days a week.

Pressroom employees like Weimer say they don't know where to go from here. "I have been here 29 years and I don't know what I am going to be doing next."

But, instead of focusing on his past, he is choosing to be optimistic about the future. "I've resolved myself to it," he told Fox 54. "I'm ready to move on with my life."
