The colors were really popping last week at the Wimberly House in Scottsboro. I had the pleasure of going on the show, He Cooks, She Cooks Southern Style with Shirley Dawson.
Each Saturday, the show airs at 8a.m. on FOX54. The format goes a lot like it sounds. The guest comes on and puts together a recipe and Shirley follows with a couple of recipes of her own.
The theme for the show I was on was corn. I was asked to bring a corn recipe to go with the steak, succotash and potato salad that was already on the menu. I knew I had to create something simple because I am not an expert in the kitchen. My recipe was a corn casserole. It was very simple, but it also turned out to be very good.
The ladies in the audience, from a tennis club in Huntsville, were a lot of fun and the entire experience was a blast. My girlfriend Nicole was also in the audience and Shirley managed to get me in trouble. I even came up with my own cooking phrase.
