Firefighters from four departments rushed to a house fire on Horse Pin Trail Monday afternoon.
The call went out shortly after 2:00 p.m. Crews from Madison, Harvest, Toney and Monrovia responded.
According to officials with the Harvest-Monrovia Water Authority, a situation like this is exactly why water restrictions were issued last week. On Sunday, the utility put customers on a Level 3 restriction until further notice. A spokesman said Monday afternoon that the fire was not causing a shortage of water in the area, and credits the restrictions with keeping water flowing.
A witness saw smoke and flames and rushed down the street to shoot video of what he saw. Meanwhile, another witness on the scene said that a boy at the home was shooting firecrackers in the driveway when a can of spray paint exploded and appears to have torched other chemicals inside the garage.
The official cause of the fire is under investigation.
