A new trial date has been set for James Heath Moss, the Alabama State Trooper facing Criminally Negligent Homicide charges.

Moss was charged in November of 2011, six months after his patrol car ran into the back of another vehicle on Lucas Ferry Road. Two people in that car - Jamie and Sarah Gossett - were killed. Prosecutors believe he was driving in excess of 110 miles per hour, responding to a non-emergency call when he hit the Gossett's car.

Moss' trial will begin in Limestone County on September 24th. There is also a plea date set for September 20th. If Moss declines to plead guilty, the trial will proceed on the 24th.

The Gossetts were heading to pick up their children from school when they were hit. The Gossett family is suing Moss and the State of Alabama over the wreck. They've also expressed disappointment that Moss wasn't charged with a more serious crime. That suit will be heard in October.
